Ask The Expert with Style Expert Erica Davies

On Wednesday evening we held our first online event, Ask The Expert. Questions were submitted on twitter or facebook and the first ten were submitted to the expert for answering.

The topic was 'style' and the expert was Erica Davies, style editor and journalist and founder of one of our must read blogs, Modern Mum Must-Have.  Here are the questions and her answers:

1. I would like to know Erica's advice for dressing during early pregnancy with a curvy shape? ... Kim Kardashian did not wear it well!

Early pregnancy is really difficult isn't it - you don't look pregnant but still feel bloated. I would say separates are your friend right now. Longer line tee-shirts or camisoles that scoot over the blooming bump that allow a bit of room (buy one size bigger, but don't go too voluminous) looks cooler. Wear with trousers that stop at the ankle - if you're curvier then Gap's coloured chinos are great - and a great flat sandal. Throw on a statement jacket and you're good to go. You can go tighter as you get bigger - I'd never wear bodycon normally (I'm pear-shaped), but embraced it during both my pregnancies!

Herbal Medicine Workshop with Sarah Gray

A good friend of LoMoC, Sarah Gray, is a herbalist and we wanted to tell you a little about the work she does and her upcoming Herbal Medicine Workshop. We always like to know about new and interesting therapies and treatments and have previously found herbal remedies to be very effective.

A western medical herbalist, like Sarah, is trained to diagnose medical conditions in a similar way to a conventional doctor but with the added skill of being able to prescribe a range of herbal treatments. A medical herbalist is knowledgable about herb safety and possible herbdrug interactions and will always work closely with the patient and their GP, if appropriate, to ensure a safe course of treatment.
